U.S. stocks rose after a government report on consumer prices signaled that inflation is easing.
Prices paid by consumers, excluding food and energy, rose 0.2 percent, the smallest gain since February. Overall prices increased 0.4 percent, the Labor Department said. Both figures matched economists' forecasts.
The readings may help the Federal Reserve keep interest rates unchanged and follow a report yesterday that showed inflation at the wholesale level remained under control. |
