US May factory orders down 0.5 pct, ex-transportation up 0.7 pct

May US factory orders fell 0.5 pct, less than half the expected 1.3
pct decline.

A 2.4 pct drop in orders for durable goods was offset by an
unexpectedly large 1.6 pct increase in orders for non-durables.

Ex-transportation, new orders rose 0.7 pct in May against an expected 0.1 pct decline.
