Gold futures fell by as much as $6 an ounce Wednesday, as traders took profits from a four-session winning streak that added more than $30 to the metal's price.
Other metals prices were mixed. December silver fell by 13.5 cents to $12.70 an ounce, October platinum rose $4.40 to $1,307 an ounce and December palladium gained $1.10 to $340 an ounce.
December copper fell 4.45 cents, or 1.3%, to $3.343 a pound, following a gain of 4% in the previous session.
Gold warehouse inventories fell by 4,430 troy ounces to stand at 7 million troy ounces, according to Nymex data as of late Monday. Silver supplies rose to 134.2 million troy ounces, up 4.1 million troy ounces, while copper supplies fell by 174 short tons to 20,518 short tons as of late Tuesday. |
